What is the Reading Agency?
The Francesc Ferrer Pastor Reading Agency is a municipal entity that manages the free book lending and reading service. It is part of the Valencian Public Reading Network (XLPV) which integrates the municipal libraries of the Valencian Community and the public libraries of the Generalitat Valenciana within the same library management system.
What are our opening hours?
Monday to Thursday: from 4pm to 9pm
Friday: from 4pm to 8.30pm
Special opening hours (Christmas, Easter, summer): Monday to Friday, from 9am to 1.30pm (mornings only).
Special opening hours for exams: check with the library.
Closed in August.
The library card
The Font d’en Carròs Reading Agency card is free, personal and non-transferable. It is valid for all Valencian libraries that are part of the XLPV.
The XLPV Library card is essential to make home loans and use eBiblio.
Free WIFI for laptops
Tables with electrical connection for electronic devices.
Book lending service
The book loan service has a duration of 15 calendar days, renewable if the document is not requested by another user.
Bibliographic and general information service
It is a user service intended to provide the information, training and assistance necessary to facilitate the use of the Library’s collections and services.
Consultation service in the book room
Consultation in the library is free and open to the public. This service allows users to access the collection directly in the library facilities during established hours.
Spaces in the library
Reading room
You will find a reading and consultation room where you can study in complete peace and quiet or read a book without any disturbance.
Children’s room
We have a children’s room intended solely for children under the age of eleven and accompanying adults. There you will find all kinds of books for children between 0 and 11 years old.
The Bebeteca
It is the space designed for children from 0 to 5 years old. It is a section, within the children’s library, where you can find various materials (books, games) for your baby to enjoy.
You can find books in different media (fabric, plastic, hard cardboard…), with various shapes and sizes (die-cut, fold-out, large, small…). Resistant books to take to the bathroom, to bed or to play with. Books to learn about animals or everyday things, to learn and to enjoy with them. They have almost no text and what predominates are the colors, illustrations and shapes.
The Bebeteca is understood as another library service dedicated to younger children for whom reading consists of looking at and listening to what the accompanying adults explain.
Teen space
In the large room of the library you will find a space dedicated to young people (12 to 16 years old).
Reading promotion activities
The Font d’en Carròs library carries out various activities throughout the year to promote reading: storytelling, workshops to promote reading habits, reading club, book presentations, user training, etc.
User training:
It includes previously arranged visits with schools and other groups in order to achieve more effective use of the resources and services that the library offers.
Book club:
The book club is an activity in which a group of people read a single book, proposed by the book club itself, in a certain time in order to meet to discuss the reading of that book and share our experiences. We meet in the library in bimonthly sessions lasting approximately one and a half hours, approximately the last Saturday of January, March, May, September and November.
It is an open activity that combines the pleasure of reading and that of conversation around a book.
