Commitment to Equality and Social Welfare
The Department of Social Welfare and Equality prioritizes improving people’s quality of life. Throughout the year, different activities are carried out to promote equality, prevent gender violence, support the LGTBIQ+ community and make diversity visible. Making La Font a town where we all fit in!
Cognitive stimulation workshops
The objective of the workshops is to promote greater cognitive activity on the part of users through the carrying out of dynamics, led by the figure of the City Council psychologist, that favor the continuous exercise of their cognitive functions.
The workshops are mainly aimed at the elderly in the town where weekly dynamics are held to work on reasoning, lateral thinking, memory, and communication, mixing physical and mental activity.


Activities with the functional diversity group
Throughout the year, the aim is to promote the social inclusion of people with functional diversity and raise awareness among citizens. One of the main actions is the cognitive stimulation workshops, led by the psychologist and the TASOC, where executive functions, cognitive abilities and social integration are worked on through recreational and cultural activities.
The group has participated in initiatives such as: the Valentine’s Day race, both as runners and in volunteering and trophy making tasks, they have created a collaborative mural for Women’s Week, a mosaic for the presentation of the inclusive book L’Aventura and they have worked on an exhibition on climate change with sustainable materials.
They have also contributed their works to a painting exhibition, attended educational activities such as an exhibition on co-responsibility, and participated in storytelling and local excursions. They have also celebrated Badà Day with intergenerational games and attended a talk on the autism spectrum. All of these activities contribute to strengthening autonomy, community participation and the visibility of diversity.


Women’s Week (8M)
To commemorate Women’s Day, activities were held during the week of March 3 to 9, giving space to workshops to promote creativity and cooperation between women through the creation of a collaborative mural and different accessories. There was also the exhibition “A Source of Stories” by the Ninos preschool, a laughter therapy workshop and a talk about Parkinson’s.
In addition to holding two workshops to promote self-esteem and female empowerment, a film was also screened exploring the lives of 4 Indian women who rebel against the sexist traditions of their land. Over the weekend, councilor Fanni Roselló shared a manifesto on social media emphasizing the importance of fighting every day for real equality between men and women, and finally, a breakfast and lunch were held by the Women’s Association.
The week ended with the tribute “Brave Women”, giving visibility to the lives and contributions of three residents of the municipality, accompanied by the musical performance of Lia Sampai and Adrià.


Pride Week (28J)
Among the main objectives of the Council is to make La Font a town where everyone fits in regardless of their condition, identity, expression or orientation. For this reason, days like 28J cannot go unnoticed.
This year, a pride week has been organized with different activities such as the dynamics that will be held in the town’s swimming pool to work in a playful way on concepts related to the group, in addition, on Saturday the 28th, a manifesto will be disseminated on social networks.
On the other hand, the exhibition NuesTransvidas importan will remain at the Casa de la Cultura throughout the week from June 16 to 26. This initiative aims to bring citizens closer to the reality of trans people, through the images we will learn about their experiences and their day to day lives.
Mental Health Week (10 O)
Next October 10th, Mental Health Day is celebrated, a topic that does not leave us indifferent and that everyone must take care of. A week is being organized with different activities to try to raise awareness among the population about the importance of taking care of emotional well-being and to raise awareness about topics that have been taboo or have caused a stigma for a long time such as mental disorders, suicide or how to live with developmental disorders. A good example was the talk on ASD held on April 4th.
The stimulation workshops have received different talks on Mental Health and will express their vision on it through an exhibition.

Gender violence week (25 N)
From the Council we will champion Equality, fairness and the fight against gender violence, it is precisely because we want a fairer world that dates like 25N cannot be forgotten or stopped claiming. Throughout the year we carry out tasks where we try to raise awareness about the importance of an egalitarian society where machismo has no place.
There are many interventions that have been carried out, such as the Week in Feminine, the talks in the stimulation workshops, the colloquia and screenings to give voice to problems or situations that affect more than 50% of the world’s population, such as the obstetric violence that many users suffer, monologues such as “Being a Woman” by Susana Pastor or exhibitions such as “Coresponsibility” or “Women of Saforenques”
